Guest Concert: Christopher Taylor

Fri, April 12, 2024 • 7:30pm - 9:30pm (2h) • Kracum Performance Hall
“Those who know the pianist Christopher Taylor tend to speak of him in the hushed, reverent tones typically reserved for natural wonders if not the otherworldly. Colleagues trip over words like “innocence,” “fervor,” “beauty” and “vision” in an attempt to capture his elusive personality. Critics praise his virtuosity, his cerebral interpretations tempered by an aching tenderness, his unconventional programming and his advocacy of late-20th-century music.” New York TImes
Stunning virtuoso pianist, Christopher Taylor, graduated summa cum laude in Math from Harvard before becoming the Cliburn competition bronze medalist in 1993. He presents a thrilling recital program that includes the Rachmaninoff Preludes, Op. 32, Prokofieff's Fourth Piano sonata, and eight rags by the inimitable Eubie Blake. Taylor is also a winner of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Kapell Competition, the Gilmore Young Artist Award. He is Paul Collins Professor of Piano Performance at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
